About  Alison McIlkenny

A happy wife, a mother of two children and the owner of a fur baby dog called Archie. In the past Alison spent 10 years working as Jewellery Designer and Maker after receiving an advanced Diploma in metal clay through Mid-Cornwall School of Jewellery. She is one of the first people in Northern Ireland to make, design and teach in metal clay fine silver jewellery.
Recently Alison has returned to her first love, painting and drawing. Alison currently works in a variety of mediums from her studio in Moira, Northern Ireland. She enjoys experimenting with new techniques and mediums continually evolving in her style. Her preferred mediums of choice are oil paints, charcoal and recently acrylics. Alison likes to look beyond the subject she is painting, often exaggerating colours and textures creating an impressionistic style. People connect to her work because of how she captures the essence of the subject she is painting. Alison is mainly self-taught although she has received professional mentoring from renowned artists in the past, and believes that if you are passionate enough about something you will work hard, immerse yourself in it until you can be the best you can be.  Art has become Alisons obsession, passion and love.
